About the Practitioner
I am a very experienced psychotherapist/marital counsellor for individuals and couples who has worked with people over over the world face to face and online. I have a caring and non judgmental style and work as a team with clients on a range of problems. I will empower you to change in ways you choose through a deep emotional understanding of yourself/your partner and identifying patterns that do not work. I can help you to understand how to shape love, and how to maintain, repair and even enhance vital bonds. I draw on a large range of skills fitting my practice to the particular needs of clients. Therapy and counseling involves more in depth work and coach work is more a case of helping you find your direction and to pursue it.
I am available face to face in Oxford or online via skype/google hangout/facetime and VSee (with or without the camera as you wish), chatting and email. I work late and flexible hours trying to accommodate you if I am able to both in terms of time and what is affordable to you. I also work with couples who live together or apart and even at a distance form one another through conference calls. Through this medium therapy is accessible to you if you live in remote places, travel a lot or prefer not to leave your home. If this is new to you I recommend that you try it and see it works for you.
I work with a range of different issues from anxiety, depression, low self esteem, anger management, trauma, struggles with retirement, weight issues and chronic health issues, problems at work, recurring arguments, misunderstandings and broken trust in relationships. I help people to feel empowered to change through understanding, identifying patterns that do not work and assuming responsibility. I have extensive experience working with couples and specialize in culturally mixed relationships.
I have worked in England within the NHS in London, with individuals, and couples, parents and families from many cultures and contexts in a family therapy clinic, in my consulting room and also worldwide via online work.
I am aware that taking the first step in making contact to discuss starting therapy can be enormously difficult and requires great courage; being able to reach out in this way is actually a strength. I always say, like when launching into any new and seemingly difficult task, try out a few sessions and see if they are helpful and then decide if you wish to continue. Clients often tell me that they found it better than expected as they thought they would be judged and found that this was not the case. So I recommend that you try one session to see if you feel comfortable and if the session is helpful. You can then be in a situation to decide if you wish to carry on.
Web-based therapy: This can be done utilizing Skype. It involves counseling/therapy/coaching via web cam where we can see and hear one another.
Telephone based therapy: As above but this takes place over the phone via regular telephone or skype where couples can both talk on a conference call.
Instant messaging: This involves one-to-one instant messaging by appointment.
Email therapy: Need time putting your thoughts together and deciding what you want to say? This option might work best for you. Email therapy allows you to ask your questions and receive solutions in an email format. You will receive email responses very quickly and certainly within 24 hrs. see my website: http://www.virtualtherapyandcounseling.com/
