Any talk therapists, counsellors or coaches who are members of a professional association and have appropriate insurance are welcome to join Therapy Market.

Can I change information in my listing?

Of course! Once you have your login details, you can change the text and photograph on your profile as often as you like.

What if I forget my login or password?

Your login is the email address you used to sign up with us. If you forget your password, just click on the forgotten password link to resolve the problem.

Do I need to upload a photograph of myself?

You don’t need to upload a photograph but our experience is that the more ‘real’ you appear to site visitors, the more likely they are to book an appointment with you.

How does the search work?

While other directories that use postcodes or physical location as the main search criterion, at Therapy Market we recognise that our practitioners are not limited by geography. So we have developed a sophisticated search tool that recognises the expertise and specialisation of our online coaches, counsellors and therapists. Site visitors enter their choices and find the most appropriate practitioners listed on Therapy Market within seconds!

How can I get the best placement in searches?

Most prospective clients want to find a practitioner who has specialist knowledge, skills and experience in a specific area of concern. The search tool we have developed helps our site visitors find exactly who they are looking for by prioritising those practitioners who are the best fit for them.

In practical terms this means by limiting your listing to fewer specialist areas of practice and fewer service options, you will be at an advantage to another practitioner who nominates more areas of concern and service options. Where 2 practitioners offer the same specialist areas of practice and service options, their appearance in the search results will be randomised.

The more specialised your practice and the more appropriate it is to your prospective clients, the higher up in the search results you will appear to visitors looking for what you have to offer. The system is simple and fair and guarantees that no matter where you are physically located, the most appropriate clients will find you!

What should I write in my ‘profile notes’?

Your profile notes are your opportunity to sell yourself. As a professional counsellor, coach or therapist YOU are your product. You should communicate the benefits of engaging yourself and write as is talking directly to the prospective client. You have up to 1000 characters to convey why you might be a good choice for anyone reading your profile. Combined with the details about your expertise, qualifications, professional registration and perhaps your fees you have an excellent opportunity to stand out in the emerging market of online practitioners!

Do I need to include details of my fees?

No, you don’t need to show your charging structure on Therapy Market but remember that other practitioners will be detailing their fees and this may be one of the criteria prospective clients use to determine whether you are appropriate for them. Keep in mind that clients will not always select the least expensive practitioner and seen in combination with your qualifications and summary of your skills and experience, your fees may be used to determine where you are placed in the market.

It is usually helpful to prospective clients to read about payment options. Feel free to indicate whether you accept credit cards, bank deposits, Paypal or Moneybookers or other payment systems and whether you offer discounts or free introductory appointments.

I’m taking a break from my practice. Can I take down my listing so I don’t receive enquiries through Therapy Market?

You can hide your profile by ticking the box at the end of your edit profile page. Your subscription will still remain current so you can choose to show your profile at any time.
