About the Practitioner
Hello, my name is Maureen Brumby and I am a professionally qualified and experienced counsellor and counselling supervisor. If you are struggling with life right now and you feel you have enough strength and courage to make that first step to counselling, please contact me and we can discuss your way forward. I practice within the Cheshire, Merseyside and Wirral areas. I adhere to a professional Code of Practice and Ethics with the BACP. I have been practising therapy for 9 years and I have more than 1,000 client hours in my profile. I work with a variety of therapeutic approaches including CBT which is useful for working with anxiety, depression, trauma and other related issues. I work with individuals, young people and adults. A professional listener can help to be feel listened to, heard and validated and help you to achieve some clarity, guidance and direction and this can help to make a huge difference to your life and relationships. My practice offers you a safe, non-judgemental, warm and genuine climate to discuss and explore your issues. I can help you to achieve sustainable personal improvement and growth. Whatever is brought to counselling it will be received with total acceptance and my own genuine desire to help you to create the changes you require. My therapeutic approaches include working in the present here and now as well as focusing on past issues if relevant. My style is adapted to every individual counsellor depending upon their therapeutic needs. I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist which is a scientifically research approach focusing on how to create change with thoughts, feelings and behaviour and identify core areas of focus. This approach works well with anxiety, depression, phobias, addictions, self harm, bullying, relationships, pesonality disorders and many more mental health issues. I am a counselling supervisor currently working with qualified counsellors in the area of sexual abuse/trauma. I have worked with a broad range of charities and primary care. I am available for training, motivational speeches and consultancy with charities and mental health organisations.
